General elections are scheduled to be held in Myanmar (formerly Burma) in 2010 providing the constutional referendum held in May 2008, approves the revised constitution. The new constitution was proposed by the State Peace and Development Council in February 2008.[1]

Due to Article 59F of the proposed constution banning from public office people who are or were married to foreigners, Aung San Suu Kyi will unable to contest the election, if the constitution is passed.[2][3]
